Written for:
hogwarts365 Prompt 364-Marriage, Cloak, Power
hogwarts365 Prompt 365-Thankful, Discontinue, Full circle
Notes: Looking at the prompts this week seemed to call for some next-gen involvement here. Scorpius insisted, so how could I refuse? I apoloogise for squeezing two weeks of prompts into one story, but RL is kinda being a butt this past little while. I’m feeling a little bittersweet knowing this is the end, but I know I will likely come back and write some more for the old prompts. I have thoroughly enjoyed writing for this comm and getting feedback from readers. Thank you all for taking the time and energy to read and/or comment. It means more than you know.
Summary: Scorpius plays matchmaker for Draco and Harry.
Draco walked to Madam Malkin’s robe shop, fairly brimming over with nostalgia as he thought about the first time he’d seen Harry.
“Father, do hurry up! I’m supposed to meet Mum for dinner after I get fitted.”
“Keep your cloak on, Scorpius. Madam Malkin’s has been there for centuries before either of us was ever born. It’ll still be there in five minutes.”
“I can’t help it! Blaise said he was going to teach me a spell to reveal magical power. I can’t wait to tell Albus about it.”
“Ah, yes. And how is young Potter? Are you two still joined at the hip as usual?”
“Father! That’s enough. Besides, I happen to know you like Mister Potter, even if you won’t admit it. Mother told me why your marriage ended.”
“Oh, she did, did she? And what did Astoria have to say on the subject?”
“She said that you two loved each other, but had to discontinue your marriage because you were both in love with other people, and that both of you would never stop loving me. I knew that already, and besides, I like Blaise. He’s cool. So is Mister Potter.”
“Your mother is a smart and lovely woman, but I swear to Merlin, she has a big mouth. I’m not in love Potter, even if she thinks I am.”
“It’d be okay with me. Albus and I would be brothers. That would be like coming full circle for you and Mister Potter.”
“What do you mean?”
“You started out as enemies, but now you love each other. Full circle.”
“Scorpius, you’re too young to discuss things like this. It’s not appropriate.”
“I just want you and Harry to be happy. He eyes you the way I’ve seen him look at treacle tart every time you pick me up.”
“How do you know that?”
“I’m not blind, Father. You look at him, too. Invite him for tea. He’d say yes.”
It was with thankful eyes that Draco saw they were nearing their destination. “Okay, little Cupid. If I agree to invite Potter for tea, can we drop the subject?”
“Oh, of course. But do it now. He’s right there.”
“Merlin save me.”
