Title: Right There With You
Author: bleedingangel84
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: R
Summary: Harry has a nightmare. Draco is there to comfort him. Disclaimer: Characters belong to J. K. Rowling and related copyright holders. I am merely borrowing them. Don't sue.
Warnings: This is short, somewhat angsty fluff that deals with religious themes. There is also crude language in certain areas. I mean no offense to anyone.
Notes: This was my first completed attempt at Harry/Draco slash. I haven't worked up to explicit erotic material, but I hope to one day. Feedback/criticism is totally welcome. Enjoy!  This is also at Adult Fan Fiction under my penname, vampirekisses. That's me, so this isn't stolen.

The morning sun was just beginning to make its way over the horizon as Harry woke. The muted light that filled the room seemed to fit his mood, more gray than bright. These nightmares had to stop, damn it. He couldn’t go on this way. He squirmed inwardly as he remembered last night’s horror.

“You are an unnatural freak!” Vernon Dursley’s voice had uttered. “I will not have such abominable behavior taking place under my roof. Get out! God will strike you down for your perverted desires, boy. Mark my words!”

Harry had woken up from the nightmare gratefully, feeling the reassuring arms of his lover pulling him close. It was nearly impossible to get those voices out of his head after one of those nightmares. Harry was grateful once again that Draco was always so patient with him. Looking over at his lover, Harry felt his heart melt. Draco was beautiful, all pale ivory skin and flawless platinum hair. Contemplating him, Harry could hardly resist touching him. Bending his head, Harry placed the lightest of kisses on his lover’s lips. Feeling more than hearing Draco’s moan, Harry fought the instinct to pull away. He almost felt as though his relatives were watching him over his shoulder. The thought made him want to screech in horror and hide.

Feeling Harry stiffen, Draco moved away from him carefully.

“What’s the matter, love?” he questioned, “Still thinking of your nightmare?”

He put his arms around Harry’s shoulders, looking deep into his troubled green eyes. Harry nodded, wearing a haunted expression. Draco sighed from deep in his chest, wishing he could throttle the Dursleys for making Harry feel like he was anything less than perfect.

“Baby, you know they were wrong, right? There is nothing evil about the two of us, and God is not going to strike you down because you prefer cock to pussy, ok? Honestly, I doubt he really cares all that much about it, so long as we love each other. I mean, after all, he is supposed to be all about love, right?”

He saw Harry try to smile as his worried expression lightened a bit.

“I hope you’re right, Dray, I hate to think I might be in trouble for eternity, just for who I love. There is no way I’m giving you up now, no matter what price I have to pay for it. I love you too much.”

Draco couldn’t stop the pleased smile that overtook his face at Harry’s declaration. “I love you too, Harry. And you should know by now that Malfoys are always right,” Draco asserted.

Snorting in disbelief, Harry couldn’t help but laugh.

“Dray, you are unbelievable, do you know that? Move over, I want to snuggle.”

Draco complied and was pleased to feel Harry relax against the warmth of his body.

“You feel better now?” Draco asked.

“Mmm…yeah, thanks to you,” Harry answered. “Hell just seems too far away from here when we’re together.”

Harry felt Draco’s arms tighten around him.

“Even if Hell was real, and this was wrong, it wouldn’t matter, because I’d be right there with you,” Draco whispered.

With a contented smile, Harry cuddled closer and drifted back to sleep.

See, I don't know why don't you do this more often! This is a proper story that encompasses a lot of feelings and sheds a complete different light of vulnerability on Harry. It's great to know what are the feelings and the emotions beyond the words they're saying because this subtext is really the one doing the talking.

"Feeling more than hearing Draco’s moan, Harry fought the instinct to pull away. He almost felt as though his relatives were watching him over his shoulder. The thought made him want to screech in horror and hide."

See this sentence really encompasses how Harry feels and even if you couln't convey from their dialogue that there's a sense of shame and wrongness still present in Harry's head, this sentence pretty much says it all. I really like that extra text between the dialogue, it's much richer and descriptive this way. :)

I'm so glad you liked this one. I wrote it to cheer myself up during one of the times I was worrying over some of the religious bull that occasional floats up from my memories. It was a sort of personal catharsis for me, and there was no way I could've conveyed everything through dialogue. I feel like it would've been a weaker story if it were only dialogue, because there are some things you just can't say.

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I think I may have to get back to doing this kind of thing again at some point.
