Diana
“Draco, come out, would you?”
“No, Luna, I won’t. That was humiliating. Potter ran out of the club like he had a Blast-Ended Skrewt after him when he found out it was me he was dancing with. Let’s just go home. I know I must look a mess. My mascara is running like it’s miffed at me, too.”
“He likes you, Draco. I know he does. It doesn’t matter what you look like."
A snort was the blonde’s only response to that.
“Right. Thanks anyway, Luna. I appreciate the effort, but I’d call this night a wash, wouldn’t you?”
Luna regarded Draco seriously for a moment, radiating calm that warmed the room like a fire.
“Coming out is never easy, but you deserve to be happy. Harry may just surprise you. He’s far more open-minded than you give him credit for.”
“If you say so, Luna. You know him better than I ever will, it seems.”
“Somehow, I don’t think that will be true for long,” Luna predicted, shooting her companion an enigmatic half-smile.
The two friends headed toward the main floor of the club, once again looking well-coiffed and dressed to kill, both silently thankful for the invention of grooming charms.
The two blondes headed over to the bar, yelling to be heard over the beat of some loud, industrial techno music. Slowly being hypnotized by the rhythm, it was a second before the former Slytherin realized someone was speaking.
“You look positively gorgeous, Malfoy. Can I buy you a drink? Please? I’m sorry for running out on you before, but seeing you in that tiny leather skirt got me rather…excited. I had no choice but to retreat, or I’d have embarrassed us both.”
Hearing the sincere tone in Potter’s voice, the Slytherin felt something inside relax. Potter hadn’t been repulsed. Luna had been right, Potter did appear infatuated.
Pleased, the blonde accepted Potter’s offer with a slight nod and a coy smile.
“I think I’d like that, Harry. Call me Diana.”
Luna grinned, perfectly content to see her friends happy for once. She wondered if she ought to tell them she’d known all along, but it could wait. This was just the beginning.

on 2013-09-15 06:52 pm (UTC)Thank you so much for reading! I'm really happy you liked this. I love writing Luna in a less batty light than she's usually portrayed. She's one of my favorite characters.
