Title: Never Alone
Author:bleedingangel84
Beta: None
Rating: R
Warnings: Language, Angst, homophobes using derogatory terminology, hurt/comfort
Word Count: 365
Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction created for fun and no profit has been made.
Written for: hogwarts365 prompt #5-“Draco, I really hate you when you are drunk!”; Minerva McGonagall; Armageddon
Notes: Much more angst than is typical for my fics, but still a happy ending. Derogatory and/or homophobic terms are used purely for dramatic effect. It seemed like the kind of thing an irate, homophobic Lucius might say when extremely angry. None of this is reflective of my personal feelings regarding same-sex couples. I know all of you probably realize that, but I felt I should add that anyhow, because you never know what things people will take seriously on the Internet. Minus header and notes, exactly 365 words. Now with a sequel: Prophetic Dreams.
Summary: Draco gets some bad news and falls back on a bad habit, but Harry makes it bearable.
Never Alone
“Draco, I really hate you when you are drunk!”
“M’not drunk, Potter. Only tipsy. Haven’t had enough yet to be drunk,” Draco slurred
“You are drunk, Draco. I thought you weren’t going to do this anymore.”
“Yeah well, since when has a no-good Death Eater been known for honesty?” Draco snarled.
“Draco, what happened? Talk to me, for Merlin’s sake!”
“Letter from father. The bastard disowned me, Harry.”
“Oh, Draco. I’m sorry. Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Caush I didn’t want you to blame yourself. He said he didn’t want some spunk bucket for a son.”
“I will kill that son of a bitch if I ever see him again. I swear it, Draco.”
“No’ worth it. You’d go to Azkaban. I don’t wanna lose you, too.”
“Surely the Wizengamot would consider it justifiable homicide.”
“You should try an Armageddon, Harry. Just might cool off that temper of yours.”
“I think not, Draco. Minerva wants us back at school. There’s a lot of rebuilding to do. Let me help you out of here.”
“Of course. Potter the Saviour, who has to help everyone.”
“I’d like to be your saviour if you let me.”
“Why? I’m worthless, Potter. No one wants me.”
“That’s not true, Draco. I want you. Why else would I volunteer to come and drag your pungent arse away from the bar so often?”
“Pungent? You trying to say I stink, Potter?”
“Well, there is a reason they don’t sell firewhiskey in perfume shops, Malfoy.”
Draco snorted.
“Fair point there, Potter.”
“Let’s go back to school, hmm?”
“No. Too many memories. Too painful. How do you stand this, Potter? Being there every day?”
“I just try to think about the future. How it will look when everything’s fixed up, what classes we’ll have, the fact that Voldemort is gone for good. It doesn’t do to dwell on the bad.”
“You amaze me, Potter.”
“Now I know you’re drunk. The Draco Malfoy I know would never say such a thing.”
“Har-ry! I’m being serious here,” Draco said.
“Far too serious. I’m taking you back to school. Get up,” Harry commanded.
“Harry? Don’t let me be alone tonight. Please?” Draco pleaded
“Never again, I promise.”

on 2013-10-13 09:53 am (UTC)I am so glad you liked the angst. I usually try to steer away from it in my fics, but this prompt just seemed to call for it. I'm very pleased you enjoyed the ending. Thank you so much for commenting. I really appreciate it.
